Afghanistan Announces Squad for Football Match Against Turkmenistan

KABUL – Afghanistan Football Federation on Tuesday announced a 24-member squad for the country’s international friendly match against Turkmenistan due to be played in Turkey on December 25.

Noor Hussain was dropped from the squad due to his engagement with a club, AFF said.

Out of four matches played between the two countries so far, Afghanistan have won one, while Turkmenistan have won three.

Afghanistan are ranked 147th by world football governing body FIFA. Turkmenistan are ranked 127th.

The last time the two sides met was in the AFC Asian Cup in 2014. Afghanistan had won 3-1.

Afghanistan squad:

Goalkeepers: Oways Azizi, Faisal Hamidi, Qais Wahab.

Defenders: Hassan Amin, Abdul Naim Haidary, Kanishka Taher, Benjamin Najm, Haroon Amiri, Sharif Muhammad.

Midfielders: Faysal Shayesteh, Noorullah Amiri, Maziar Kouhyar, Omid Popalzai, Adam Najm, Irfanullah Habibi, Zulfiqar Nazari, Naeem Rahimi, Abasin Alikhil,Imran Haidari, Farshad Noor, Jabbar Sharza, Farid Sadat, Zubair Amiri, Hasan Rahmani.
