Pakistan, US Discuss Afghan Reconciliation Process

ISLAMABAD – Talks between Pakistan and United States have begun at Pakistan’s Foreign Office in Islamabad to discuss progress on Afghan reconciliation process.
The Pakistani delegation was led by Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua while US delegation was headed by United States Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad.
Zalmay Khalilzad will also have separate meetings with the civil and military leaderships during his visit to the country.
Meanwhile, Khalilzad also called on Pakistani foreign minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, in Islamabad.
During the meeting, matters pertaining to bilateral interest including progress on peace and reconciliation process in Afghanistan came under discussion.
Zalmay Khalilzad is on a mission to make progress regarding peace talks between Taliban and Afghan government and representatives.
