Pakistani Soldier Killed in Waziristan

ISLAMABAD – An exchange of fire broke out between security forces and terrorists during a search of the Makki Garh post at Shawal Valley in northern Waziristan, the Pakistani army press branch (ISPR) said in a statement.
A Pakistani army soldier was killed on Monday when militants attacked a security outpost in north-western Pakistan’s tribal region. An exchange of gunfire broke out between security forces and terrorists during a search of the Makki Garh post at Shawal Valley in North Waziristan, said the ISPR in a statement.
The troops effectively repelled the militants’ attempt and during the exchange of fire, a soldier was killed, he said. The army found five unidentified bodies during a patrol in the Boya area, where an army post was attacked Sunday by a group. The bullet-wounded bodies were found in a dry creek located about 1.5 km from the Khar Kamar station attacked by the group.
Once home to militants, North Waziristan was cleared after an operation in 2014. However, recently it has witnessed sporadic acts of violence by militants from Afghanistan, security forces said.
