President Ghani Chairs ESG Meeting

KABUL – Chaired by the President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, a meeting of the Election Support Group (ESG) was held at the Delkusha Palace, a statement from the Presidential Press Office said Tuesday.
At the outset, the ESG meeting strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack that killed a number of Kandahar provincial election commission members and extended their sympathy to their victims’ families, the statement said.
The meeting discussed issues about the procurement budget for using technology in the upcoming election, with the president instructed that the procurement works should be started and the National Procurement Commission to complete the process of technical materials as needed, the statement added.
Attending the meeting, the Ministry of Finance committed that it, in cooperation with the international community, would finalize the Independent Election Commission budget, in which, the government budget and the International community’s aids would be specified, according to the statement.
Emphasizing on the transparency of the election and non-interference of the government officials in the election process, the president asked the international community for seriously overseeing every process of the election.
