President of the World Bank Visits Pakistan in November

ISLAMABAD – World Bank President David Malpass will visit Pakistan in the first week of November, Daily Nation reported Friday.
Patchamuthu Illangovan, Country Director at the World Bank in Pakistan, made the remarks at a meeting with Prime Minister Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, the Prime Minister’s advisor on finance and income.
The World Bank delegation expressed the strong desire of its management to work with Pakistan to carry out institutional reforms and support the Government’s growth agenda through any required technical or financial assistance from the Bank.
Hafeez Shaikh said that Pakistan is pursuing a program of institutional reforms and growth-oriented economic recovery and that the World Bank’s technical and financial assistance is vital for the achievement of various development goals in different sectors of the economy.
Patchamuthu Illangovan told the advisor that the World Bank could work on any financial arrangement examining the objective need and evaluation of the policy matrix, as it fully supports the institutional reforms undertaken by the Government of Pakistan in different sectors of the economy.
