Sudan’s Military Council Says New Government will Be Civilian

KHARTOUM, Sudan – The new Sudanese government will be made up of civilians, the Reuters news agency said on Friday.
This statement comes after the dismissal of President Omar al-Bashir by the military.
Thursday, the United States asked the Sudanese army to invite civilians to the government after the overthrow of the leader, what a delay of two years announced was too long.
Washington has called on “transitional authorities to exercise restraint and provide space for civil participation in the government,” said US State Department spokesman Robert Palladino.
The United States was trying to improve relations with Sudan after years of tension with Bashir, who took power in a 1989 coup.
