Trump Plans French Plan to Give Iran $ 15 Billion Line of Credit

WASHINGTON – US President Donald Trump is actively considering his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron’s plan to convince Iran to return to the 2015 nuclear deal by offering a $15 billion credit line to the Islamic Republic of Iran, the homepage of Iran reported Thursday.
The Daily Beast, an American news and opinion site, quotes four informed sources of Trump’s conversations with Macron, saying that he had hinted that he was actively considering a French plan to extend a credit line of 15 billions of dollars to Iranians, if Tehran complied with the law of nuclear agreement.
“Two of these sources said State Department officials, including Secretary Mike Pompeo, were also willing to weigh the French proposal, effectively easing the regime of economic sanctions that the Trump administration has applied to Tehran since more than a year,” says the report.
The agreement reached by France would compensate Iran for oil sales disrupted by US sanctions.
The $15 billion credit line would be secured by Iranian oil. In exchange for this money, Iran should comply with the nuclear agreement if it signed with the world’s leading powers in 2015.
The report says Tehran should also agree to “not threaten the security of the Persian Gulf or hinder shipping” in the region.
Finally, Tehran should engage in regional talks in the Middle East in the future.
On Wednesday, Bloomberg quoted sources as saying that Trump had discussed easing sanctions against Iran on Monday with the aim of securing a meeting with Iranian President Rouhani, prompting Bolton National Security Adviser to oppose it and finally to resign.
