Well-Known Religious Scholar Killed in Kabul Explosion

KABUL – An explosion ripped through a mosque in Kabul City earlier this afternoon killing one person and injuring at least 16 others, Interior Ministry said in a statement.
A well-known religious scholar, Mawlawi Samiullah Raihan, was killed and 16 people were wounded in an explosion that happened inside a mosque in Kabul’s PD9, the Ministry of Interior confirmed in a statement.
The statement said the explosion happened at around 1:20 pm Kabul time during Friday prayers at Taqwa Mosque in Paktia Kot area in Kabul.
Rahimi further added that the explosion killed a religious cleric Mawlavi Rehan and injured at least 16 others.
No individual or group has so far claimed responsibility for the explosion.
