The majority of the victims died at the Turkey-Iran border, where every year tens of thousands of people, primarily from Afghanistan and Pakistan, cross.
At least 32 bodies of migrants who froze to death have been found in the Van, eastern Turkish province, many of whom emerged after the thawing of winter snow.
Another two migrants froze to death in the province of Edirne, at the border with Greece.
Sixteen migrants drowned in four shipwrecks in the Aegean Sea on boats headed towards the Greek islands. (Sahar News Monitoring Desk)
