KABUL – Afghanistan’s top three interior ministry officials have been removed from their posts, officials said Saturday.
Abdul Shabor Qani replaced Janan Barekzai as first deputy interior minister. Khushal Sadat replaced Akhtar Ibrahimi as deputy interior minister for security affairs. While, Mahir Yaqubi was appointed new director of the ministry’s counter-terrorism department.
The move was taken for cohesion, better security and for serious efforts against crimes, said Nasrat Rahimi, deputy spokesman for Ministry of Interior (MoI).
