250-Member Delegation Named for Peace Talks

KABUL – Afghan government on Tuesday named a 250-member delegation for peace talks with the Taliban in Qatar this week.
The delegation includes representatives of political parties, political figures, Jihadi leaders, martyrs’ families, High Peace Council, religious clerics, parliament, civil society, women, youths, journalists, government officials and tribal elders.
President Ashraf Ghani’s chief of staff, Abdul Salam Rahimi, his team’s vice-presidential candidate, Amrullah Saleh, head of Administrative Office of the President Abdul Waheed Qatali are included among the 250-member delegation. Seven ministers are also in the list.
Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah’s two deputies, Mohammad Khan and Mohammad Mohaqqiq, are also included in the proposed list.
Political leaders outside the government include Haneef Atmar, Mohammad Yunus Qanooni, Ata Mohammad Noor and Ismail Khan.
The upcoming meeting is scheduled for April 19-21 in Doha.
