KANDAHAR – At least four policemen were killed in an insider attack in Afghanistan’s Kandahar province on Wednesday, the local officials said.
Qasim Azad, the provincial police spokesperson, said in the statement, “The horrific incident took place Wednesday in Mishan area of Panjwai district. Two alleged Taliban infiltrators in police uniform opened fire on four of their colleagues, which killed all of them on the spot.”
The insurgent fled the scene after killing the policemen. An investigation into the incident was underway.
Insider attacks have resulted in death of many national and international troops in Afghanistan; however, they have decreased in recent years.
Taliban have not confirmed the incident so far.
