KABUL – US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, and NATO commander in Afghanistan, Gen. Scott Miller, have conferred on the military campaign and efforts to promote permanent peace in Afghanistan.
The Secretary Pompeo tweeted that US is working with Afghanistan and NATO allies for determining ways of permanent peace in Afghanistan.
Earlier in the month, US President Donald Trump ordered the US military to begin planning to withdraw about 50 percent of troops from Afghanistan.
Currently, about 14,000 US military personnel are stationed in Afghanistan to train, advise and assist Afghan forces within the framework of NATO-led Resolute Support mission and fight against insurgent outfits.
