Su-34 Jets Accidentally Struck in Far East, Both Crews Ejected: MoD

MOSCOW – Two Su-34 bombers collided in the Far East, but their crews managed to eject safely; both planes were flying without ammunition, the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) said Friday, Sputnik reports.
On 18 January at 08:07 (Moscow time), when a training flight was hovering over the sea of Japan, 35 kilometers from the coast, two Su-34 aircraft of the Defense Forces air from the Far East came into contact with flying maneuver, reported the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense.
The crews ejected, and two Mi-8 search and rescue helicopters are looking for the pilots in the area where they were ejected. The planes flew the flight without ammunition, the Russian ministry said.
The Russian Su-34, capable of carrying up to 8 tons of weapons, has a tactical range of 4,000 km and a flight ceiling of 18,000 meters.
The aircraft can also be equipped with three additional fuel tanks allowing it to fly 8 hours without refueling.
