TIKA Opens Recreational Park in Afghanistan

MAZAR-I-SHARIF – Turkey’s state-run aid agency, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), has opened a recreational park in northern Afghanistan.
The recreational park includes a playground for children which is a women-only garden in Mazar-i-Sharif northern Balkh province.
Speaking at the opening ceremony on Monday, Balkh’s deputy governor, Mohammad Bashir Tawhidi, thanked Turkey and TIKA for the projects launched for the women in the region.
Şevki Seçkin Alpay, Turkey’s consul general in Balkh said he believed the park will enable the increased participation of women in social and economic sector.
Alpay emphasized that TIKA has been implementing projects that will contribute to the improvement of women and young girls in many fields in Afghanistan – including mother and child health, vocational training, nursing and midwifery school, and education.
